Who will the mentor be working with - just incoming students or anyone who needs help? Will the mentor be paid and how will they be evaluated? Be sure to have an escape route if the mentor doesn't perform satisfactorily. Removing someone from this prestigious position could be problematic.

What is a typical course of action when a student has an unsatisfactory grade? Is the action led by the instructor or advisor? What happens if a student is deficient in multiple courses? Do they have the same advisor for all courses?

What was the process that led to the motto? Who was involved? Do you use this phrase on all internal documents/emails? Are the students aware of the creed? What is the role of faculty viz. retention? Is this a change?

I like your practice of having the students essentially remind themselves of what's important in their lives. What percentage of your drop outs actually meet with the DOE and Student Success Coordinator? In my experience, students who have decided to drop aren't inclined to linger and chat about the decision.

What does an applicant have to do to demonstrate sufficient commitment for acceptance into the school? Do they get a checklist of things they must prepare?
Congratulations on a thorough and well integrated program, Sara! What do you mean by "reaching for the stars" in Academics? What have your surveys shown about expectations versus satisfaction?
James, what sort of changes have you made as a result of these surveys? Are they related to instructional techniques? Course content? Relationships with the students?

What's the procedure for students to access the "toolbox"? Who is responsible for its contents and how is it replenished? Do you ever have an event where students can bring in items for the "toolbox"?
Tyra, do you have any idea how often referrals are made to the counseling service? I think many schools have an arrangement like this, but I don't think it is actually used very often. Are the counselors willing to share "patient" information with staff or faculty at the school?

It seems some people don't really respond until the pain is real for them. Unfortunately, this is often when they are being dropped from a class, or worse, the school. In my experience, these are students who are accustomed to failure and their demeanor is part of their defenses. One approach with these people is to confront them very directly, followed by aggressive disciplinary action that gets their attention. Another approach is to challenge them to self-advise - to come up with solutions rather being told what to do.
