It's great to hear that your students get all the necessary tools and resources to be successful. How often do you review that process and more importantly, how often do you tweak the tools and resources? Who leads this effort?
What's your role in assuring that the student has a positive experience, Bruno?

How have you used these benefits to improve retention, Max?

Good. How do you get them to use it?
I certainly agree that communication is important for many things, but what's pt expectations?
It's disappointing to hear that the students don't feel the surveys have relevance and don't see the changes based on their responses. Is that because there aren't any changes or because the institution doesn't do a good job in communicating the changes? Either way it's a call to action. If the results aren't being used, why bother wasting everyone's time and resources?

It always amazes me how many of our students succeed in spite of the obstacles they face - including their so called support system. Who is on your advisement committee? Does the committee meet to discuss students or does it take an institutional services perspective?
Have you thought about doing your own survey early in the academic period to evaluate how you are connecting with your students? This provides direct feedback to you and gives you a sense of the group early enough that you may be able to make some adjustments to better meet their needs.

How does this work - calling within the first hour? Does the instructor lecture or lab time to make the calls? Do they call from the class room where others can hear his portion of the conversation?

What are the mechanics of the suggestion box? where is it located? Who checks it and how often? What are your expectations from the program?
