I did not consider that if a student opts out of directory information, that this could carry into many different areas such as a graduation program, discussion board, etc. This module pointed out that fine detail that I believe I would have completely overlooked without being educated on it.

I had never heard of FERPA beforehand. This was a good introduction to the topic. It is important to know this well to make sure we are giving student fair and appropriate access to their records according to the law.

This module provided some more detail and information on different types of assaults and how to categorize them (for example domestive violence).

I'm thankful that there is a Title IX Coordinator who can be a resource in these scenarios to make sure investigations are being completed appropriately. There are definitely several rules and policies to be aware of, so having an expert during the process will help to decrease the risk of making any mistakes along the way and that could affect justice being served.

After completing this module, I actually looked up different institutions' websites to see if they had access to this information, including who their Title IX coordinator was. I guess in the past I was not always looking for that information, so I never really realized it was present. It was reassuring to see that a simple search would give contact information and the institution's stance with Title IX.

It is reassuring to know that items like Title IX in place. While I always knew that to an extent institutions attempted to have some form of protection and safety for their environment, I wasn't completely aware of Title IX so this was very helpful to read. I hope I can utilize this to help to ensure that those who entrust their education with my establishment feel safe and know they always have options if they are ever wronged or concerned about their safety.

This module taught me that I have a responsibility in engaging and motivating my students. Knowing the content is great, but a true educator is able to help motivate their students to really understand and utilize that information.

I appreciated that this chapter discussed the realities of teaching which can include burnout. It was helpful that it included helpful techniques to get through the burnout.

This section did a good job underlying the importance of understanding how to provide the support students need to flourish in the classroom. As a teacher you don't just lecture, but you create a safe, fun, healthy environment for those you are teaching.

In order to teach with your students in mind, you must understand them and their needs.
