AN important factoid about digital badges, for me: "

"They show prospective employers the range and depth of a candidate’s skills, experience and expertise. They highlight the candidate beyond just the resume, which helps employers determine if the candidate would be a good fit in their organization. "

Interesting quote from the lesson: "Technology has expanded so rapidly since 2000 that is it is almost impossible to measure the impact it has had on instructional delivery. The first camera phone was invented in 2002 and now every smart phone user has a camera phone. The search engine Google was created in 2004 and in 2011 it hit over one billion monthly users. The availability of resources like these to students makes learning available in ways not thought of just a few years ago."

What I learned: "Technology provides access to peers as well as information for all students so learning can be a continuous process both in and out of the classroom or lab setting." I try to use as many technological advances as possible in my classes.

Instilling a sense of ownership in the student can be a tough sell and requires the instructor to stay abreast of latest technology so he/she can instill thst sense of ownership in the student and keep the student focused on the the goals of his/her education.

I was glad to  see the "sandwhich" method of criticisn emphasized in the video.

Blook's taxonomy has always been a fascinating subject for me.

I ike the ideas for non-verbal communication dos and don'ts.

Learning the importance of facilitaating and coaching not just teaching.

Probably the most important (to me) concept in this module" "Student engagement is an important concept in distance education."

I thought the basics of this module could be summed up in the statement: "There are three basic approaches to teaching in an online environment. These approaches range from teacher-oriented to student-oriented, from limited interaction among and between students and faculty to high levels of interaction." I teach mostly in a synchrouous online environment. My approach is predominately teacher-oriented.
