About me

Antoine Lewis currently serves as the Family and Student Support Liaison for Hoosier Academies in Indianapolis, IN providing a range of services to parents and faculty (K-8). 2013 - 2014 he was the Academic Advisor for Indiana Wesleyan University. He is also a part-time faculty member and consultant at various institutions and has been tutoring and teaching at the collegiate level for various institutions since 2003, specializing in courses related to business, education and information systems. Prior to this, Antoine was a Student Affairs Specialist at Harrison College and an Academic Coordinator for ITT Technical Institute. Overall he has an extensive background in student affairs, academic advising and online facilitation.

Antoine's passion to help students with their education started while at Indiana University - Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), while advising and mentoring student-athletes. Throughout the years, he has provided training to staff and management in regards to database usage and learning management systems to track student progress. He believes in expanding ones knowledge and improving a student’s life, long-term.

Mark, Have a system showing when you accessed and submitted an assignment is important as unfortunately students are not always completely honest. As faculty having an electronic trail is important when validating our reason for a grade we give a student. Antoine Lewis

Mark, Google sites is a great tool to use as it allows for students to get and use reputable information from the web. If a student is not able to attend class and/or need to refer back to material they can. Antoine Lewis

Ibrahim, I like the creative way you are keeping the students engage with technology. Many of our students have a website and/or blog and incorporating this the subject matter makes for good class participation. Antoine Lewis

Ibrahim, Taking games that are popular and use the content from the course to play the game is a good tool and taking advantage of the technology Microsoft provides is a plus. Using technology to get the student motivated and participating is the ultimate goal. Antoine Lewis

Mark, Institutions that provide digital projectors is a great tool as it relates to classroom technology. It allows you to meet the needs of various learning styles. Also the DropBox feature is one that more should take advantage of as you can share information outside of the class and students can refer to it as they see fit. Good job taking advantage of excel also I use it to prepare my grading rubrics for each assignment. Antoine Lewis

Carrie, Using classroom technology is important and our students are technologically savvy. Using video, ppt, and showing how to research reputable information on the web keeps a class interesting. Antoine Lewis

Gina, I appreciate that many textbooks now provide extra resources such as a CD-ROM. Being able to grade and provide quality feedback while also keeping in touch with students is key today especially in a virtual setting. Lastly PowerPoint is popular amongst faculty but it is important that it used as a resources to assist in teaching the course. Antoine Lewis
