Comment on Alisa Summers's post: Yes, Ms. Alisa.  I taught online yesterday. My battery was at 85% on my laptop.  All of a sudden, it shut down, and I had to scramble to complete the lecture.  I learned to ALWAYS have a back up plan, OR simply always have a charger.

To know your class (student audience) is key. Delivery method, and handouts also small groups are ways to keep the adult learner interested and engaged

I like to get to know the student by asking an open-ended question.  Their thoughts, and how they answered, will allow me to remember faces and personality before names, yet it empowers individuality and compliance, because they feel as if the instructor knows them and cares.

Continual preparation is key to a successful class, as well as a great notepad!

No matter the years of experience, we can and should, as educators, take time for personal and professional development.

I am a forever student.

What I've learned from this course, is that elearners are not much different than on ground. They require the same concern, and attention.  I find e-learning more difficult than on ground.

To be gentle to slower learners.  To keep everyones dignity because we are all learning

I've learned to remain professional at all times.  Never give too much personal information.  Always address students in their proper pronouns and respect for each individual.

I've learned that not all adult learners are the same.  We all have different learning needs, and gravitate to a certain "style" (audio, visual, kinesthetic).  We must be flexible and compassionate enough, to learn and adapt to each style.
