The creation of a reliable rubric is a skill that must be learned. EL 109 takes the learner through the process of developing a rubric that will ensure the learner understands the types of rubrics and the design techniques necessary to create a fair assessment tool for student performance. Although the process of designing rubrics is time-intensive, the effort will save time during grading and ensure fairness in the grading process.

Designing a dynamic and technology-enriched course increases student engagement and supports iPad technology in nursing education at the University of Lynchburg. As an Apple-designated school, the nursing faculty strives to create opportunities for students to use their iPad in the classroom, clinical, and simulation settings.  After completing EL107, I feel more confident in designing learning opportunities that take into account the diversity of students and the customization of student learning through project-based learning.

I look forward to incorporating the new knowledge into my spring 2022 courses!

The use of dynamic instructional design engages learners in the classroom and fosters curiosity.  Fostering curiosity at a young age can lead to a lifetime of learning.

A dynamic classroom keeps the students engaged and creates opportunities for students to become curious about learning. Curiosity builds learning in the class that can lead to lifelong learners in the workplace.

The idea of structuring committee meetings in higher education using the team leadership ideas presented in the ML112 course is intriguing.  The worksheets will be useful in setting up the outline for the committee meetings.  Has anyone tried to implement a leadership model for committees for projects such as curriculum revision?  How successful is the implementation when other committee members do not a knowledge of leadership models?

This course was a great introduction to the main concepts of online gaming that would be suitable for integration into nursing education.

Although the worksheets look ideal for a business venue, the worksheets could be easily adapted to address teamwork in organizations of higher education.  I look forward to the challenge!

Hi Earl, finding a source for the student's motivation is vital. I ask students to write down what they hope to

achieve by taking the course. If a student starts to lose motivation, I can refer to the student's own words

during a one-on-one meeting to help refocus and re-energize the student.

I am seeing more international students.  I am learning not to praise the students in front of other classmates as I have been told by the students that it makes them feel very uncomfortable.  I teach the same content but I do slow down my speech and provide written notes to help ELL students with content and  vocabulary.

Letitia,

Do you allow the students who are late with assignments to complete them for full marks or is there a penalty for late submissions?  I think that reaching out to the students via text is a great idea and personalizes your concern. Great post, thanks, Janice
