About me

Activity

I find I am my own worst enemy, as sometimes I tend to allow myself to get anxious over a task/obstacle,etc before I actually start it. After the task is completed, I almost ALWAYS feel silly for having "built it up in my mind" so much ahead of time. So with new challenges, I try to remind myself that it isn't as bad as it seems, so just dig in and do it. It's often over before you know it, and wasn't such a big deal.
Not having had any professional prior education for teaching, I found the course to be very instructive. After actively instructing some classes, I then found the application of the content to be very helpful. So far almost every aspect/method/recommendation found in the outline, I have found to be helpful in the real classroom.
The tone for the entire course gets set from the first impression an instructor makes in the classroom. If the levels of professionalism, concern for the students, passion for the material, and a comfortable learning environment aren't obvious to the students, then it will take considerable effort to establish or re-build those later.
Discussion Comment
Asking "good" questions isn't simply a matter of the technique, but includes asking varied questions that bring out answers from students at different learning levels. I appreciated how the lesson brought this point out.
