Professional development is not a poor use of time; it is a workload management strategy. When I learn my weaknesses in training, I learn what to resolve in order to do my work better.

I am reminded about the importance of using S2C, S2I, and S2S communication to ensure students learn in dynamic and numerous ways.

It is good to remember that "when the social presence is, interaction is also low." And when this happens, the relationship between the instructor and students suffers. Keep engaging!

There is great counsel in suggesting that faculty do Google searches for time management skills. It is easy to just assume I have it figured out, but we always need to be students of learning, even with time management skills.

I appreciate the idea of finding ways to get students to think about what might be stopping them from achieving their goals as well as what they can do better to help them achieve those goals. End-of-unit surveys would be great places for this sort of introspection and intervention.

Social networking allows for direct and helpful communication, a quality that is essential for effective learning to take place.

I think jigsawing is agreat way to get groups, and the class, to work together in a way that creates collaboration and unity.

I generally think of favorable grades as the means of rewarding students, but it is a good reminder to consider going a step further by emailing students and telling them how they are succeeding in the class. This can further help motivate students.

It is helpful advice to address students by their name when giving them feedback as that will make those students feel like they are seen, which in turn to them being more motivated to continue in discussions.

I like the idea of overcoming the "sound of silence" by giving students responsibilities in discussions like being moderators. This way, they are empowered and encouraged to be involved in the discussions.
