Kerri, what have you been able to do over the years to keep your knowledge and skills in these areas relevant and sustainable? I am sure other instructors would be interested to know how others keep up with the latest trends in learning styles and delivery techniques. James Jackson

Quang, what conversations have you had with students that did not want to participate? Are they there because someone else is forcing them to attend or do they understand that through participation they will achieve the learning objectives of the course? James Jackson
Christine, moving around the room is a great technique. Keep them guessing is another trick I have learned over the years. Nothing invites more trouble into a classroom as being predictable and have set patters in your classroom. Everyday should inspire and bring new challenges to your students. Such is the way of life so we need to prepare them this way. James Jackson
Wilmer, well stated. We cannot learn for our students but we can work to remove all the other roadblocks that can prevent them from navigating the maze of achievement. By offering different delivery styles, knowing the different learning models and understanding the needs of each of our students we as instructors can GUIDE our students to be successful. anthony, as you work to develop your teaching style remember that a Guide knows when to add just the right amount of Buddy and/or Controller to provide a positive influence on students. The Guide leads by example and is fair but firm. The focus is to guide your students to achieve the learning outcomes of the course and there will be times you need to rule and times you need to serve. James Jackson
Tiffany, looks like you have a great plan laid out. What actions can you take now that will allow you to measure your progress over time? James Jackson

Frank, good practice. The more you as the instructor set the stage early in your class the more success you will see. James Jackson
Jessica, how do the mini exams assist students in reducing their fear of taking tests? What methods do you use to assist students with test anxiety? James Jackson

Samuel, may also be food to relate class tardiness to being late to work with an employer. Habitual tardiness is habit forming and part of the role of college is to prepare students for the work environment. James Jackson

Dell, techniques like direct eye contact or brief moments of silence can be very powerful tools in an instructor's tool kit. James Jackson
