Activity

on my way to work I drive an hour each way I think about my day and what I plan on accomplishing that day when I get to work I sit at my desk usually with my feet up relaxed and put my list together starting with my list from yesterday If I'm given a new project I always ask for a time frame and I remind of the priority list I already have and where this new project fits in I find good communication is a must for getting things done I also know how to delegate when my… >>>

one of my many down falls I have mismanaged time for this activity I have adjusted time to where I sure there is enough I have tried to gage by how involved the students are how much lab we have done how many questions have been asked how much review I done. I just can't seem to get it right

I agree the student can not pick the music I use up beat soft music in class and a little more energtic in lab I have also been told by my students that some tunes bother them to where they can't concentrate I play all the music I plan on useing on myself or my wife while we're engaged in studing or reading if she or I notice it I don't use it. The public library I use plays music and I have taped their sound track
I have learned more than I wish to admit from student about myself about course material about how I can make a mistake and redeem myself without loosing face admit the mistake and move on Don't be afraid to try new things and remember only what the learner has learned is learned
do a meet and greet every morning at the class room door this makes the student know he is welcome not just a number hold a conversation for a minute or so be available to the students when in lab speak to each student about what's going on make sure they are getting every thing possible out of every lab don't let a couple of students monoplize your time that gets into another problem be happy be square with the students give them that personal touch and in most cases it will be one of the best classes you've had
right now we have a couple deaf students going to our school so we have signers to sign what we say and explain when questions arise this puts me on my best why because I speak Southern Yankee with a California accent. Tranlation how about a picture of lemonade or a warsher for that bolt. I have to clean up my English for my classes and I have to pay close attention to what I say and how I say it. Or the signer ask me to spell the word in questions.

In my opinion this is one of the most important things about teaching it's hard but necessary to match the student with the student in lab groups if you just go down the attendance sheet first three in group 1 and the next in group 2 and so forth you might get a group that works good together or you might have a disaster. what I try to do is find out who works in the industry now who has experience who has worked with his dad or uncle doing this type of work then I do the placeing if… >>>

these two give the most rememberable experience to me. I smile all the time. why ? because when I was in school one of my teachers used to roll her eyes or let her breathe out real fast when you asked questions, or didn't understand. I make sure I don't do those things. I present myself as it's the first time I was asked that question even if I had just answered that question. I might answer a little ndifferently because it is evident the student didn't understand the question or answer.
