About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Danielle, One of the ways to get students comfortable in a class is to have them pair off and exchange information, such as why they are in the course. By chatting with another student the shy students seem to get more comfortable when it is their turn to talk. I frequently have the paired students introduce each other to the class after their exchange of information. That way the students aren't talking about themselves but about someone else. The shy students seem to do better at this. I still get the information I need and everyone in the class learns… >>>

Cory, Dead on in terms of a first impression. The syllabus should be clear and concise so the students will know the course requirements, expectations and policies from the beginning. This will reduce their frustrations about how they can be successful in the course. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
