About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Renee, You make good points about how to select, structure and deliver content. It needs to be engaging, valued and informative if it is going to be retained by students. The key is identify ways that this can be done and then do it. Thanks for your input on this. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Eladia, This is foundational to teaching and learning success. The more the students can feel comfortable and supported in their learning the more engaged they will be. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
LaDansa, This is a great way to approach instruction. You are giving them application opportunities as they learn. They get to see why they are being taught the content and then how to use it. This helps to make their learning real and transferable. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Kiofa, Great to hear that the information is helpful to you. I wish you continued teaching success. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Arthur, When you achieve the balance between your technical skills and your instructional abilities you will find that teaching becomes more enjoyable and rewarding. Edward, To more you know about your students the more accurately you can target your instruction to them. This way they will be able to experience knowledge growth and continue moving toward their career goals. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Karen, Clear concise communication reduces student frustration and questioning because they know the expectations of the course. This way the students can focus on being successful rather than spending time trying to figure out what the instructor wants. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
