About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Denise, Great example of how guest speakers can serve to reinforce what you are teaching them. Guest speakers get the students motivated and excited about the content. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Jonathan, Like your new word and I think it fits perfectly with what you are trying to do with your teaching. Keep up the good work. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Rheashaun, I like this strategy as well. It is an effective learning method. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Kimberly, I teach from 4 until 10 pm so I understand your statements completely. I agree with the what ever it takes. I give out a lot of candy bars during reviews and games. The students like the competition and the candy bars gets them working hard to answer the questions so they can earn one. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Rheashaun, Always great to hear from instructors that love their work. I am excited that you are excited about teaching even after being in the field for a number of years. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Beth, One of the basics of our profession is that we will repeat and repeat and repeat ourselves over and over and over again. Students have selective memories when it comes to due dates and assignments. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Gina, Good way to start a new course and getting everyone talking with each other as well as learning why they are enrolled in school. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Kimberly, This is a great way to get everyone comfortable and settled into the course as well as creating the foundation for respect between and among them. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Gayle, Good point about this additional value of a syllabus. It does help everyone to see where the course is going. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Misty, So true. The total picture has to be seen by the students as they work through and learn the procedures of their field. Any missing element will cause them problems later on in their careers. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
