About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Antonio, I use pretesting in all of my courses for the reasons you have stated. The results give me a baseline on my students and my instructional planning can be more targeted to their needs as a result. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Ketly, Guest speakers are such a valuable resource for both information and motivation. They really get the students ramped up about completing their studies and getting out into the field. Gary Dr. Gary Meers

Gayle, Good plan for keeping everyone fully informed and up to speed in relation to course progress. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Gabriel, So important to do with students. They need to understand real world expectations if they are going to be successful upon graduation. The more they can understand and experience real world settings the greater their understanding is going to be. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Antonio, Good points about the value of a positive first impression. This is much like our opinions of a restaurant the first time we visit it. For students their first interaction with a Chef gives them information from which they will form an opinion on the class and even their future in culinary arts. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Ketly, Well said and the reason that the syllabus has to be clear and concise. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
