About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Eric, I greatly appreciate your kind words. I want to come and take one of your classes because everything would be new to me, since I live and work on a cattle ranch and water is something that keeps our animals alive and comes out of the ground. Boating is not big here. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Christopher, These types of courses are always challenges as you say. The good news is that you are looking for ways to be creative and innovative in your delivery of the content. By having this attitude I think you will be able to find some ways to introduce activities and/or change of pace into the class as time goes by. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Frank, What are some delivery methods you use as a result of knowing the learning preferences of your students? Thanks for your input on this. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Chuck, Great teaching strategy. Thanks for sharing it with us. I know it will be of help to other instructors. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Frank, Well said. This knowledge will help in planning the instructional delivery methods that will target your students. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Eric, Right on with what helps to motivate students. Enthusiasm is catching when the instructor brings it into the classroom. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Jessica, Good observation and one that will serve both you and your students well. By knowing that students have a tendency to close off you will be able to observe this and then reach out to students that are doing so. This will increase their engagement and focus on the course content. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Carl, Change of pace and variety is so important in the learning process. By being aware of the needs of your students will be able to better target their learning preferences. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Sherry, You are going to have a great first class meeting, I can tell from your attitude and effort. I am excited for you and I know you are anxious to get into the classroom and get the learning underway. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Doris, I like your comfortable low key approach to engaging shy students. This method gets them involved but in a way that lets them see how they can contribute to the class. Good job. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
