About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Dominga, Good strategies. These are supports that show the students that help is available and they are valued if they are willing to put forth the effort. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Michael, I like your formula. The 10-2 model holds the students accountable for the material that has just been covered since they know that in 10 minutes they are going to have to respond. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Karen, Thanks for the kind words about this course. Keep doing what you are doing and that is looking for ideas and applications that you can integrate into your own instructional style. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Eric, Good points about tactile learning. It seems to integrate itself into the other learning preferences since so much of what we do involves application and skill development. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Jamie, This is so important so you will have an idea of the content retention and application that is occurring. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Jorge, Great way to start a class off. I am sure this method helps to get the students excited about what is going to occur in the coming class sessions. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Mark, So true and so important to establish you as the learning leader for the class. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
John, These experiences and examples really make the content come alive for the students. They also help to engage the students in the learning process. Keep up the sharing. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Sharon, I support this idea as well. Good strategy to use. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Lee, These two have worked for me as well. I have had great success with both. Thanks for sharing them with us. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
