About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Jenny, Students use selected hearing and retention when it comes to course policies and requirements. I like the way you remind them over and over about what they need to be doing and at what phase of the course they need to be doing. This keeps them on pace in terms of learning progress. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
LaShonda, Your last sentence says a lot. A positive impression is the foundation for the development of respect and rapport which are two essential elements for learning success. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Sherri, This is the value of the syllabus. It is the guide for the course and reduces student questions and frustrations since it explains the details of the course and what the expectations are. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Sherri, This is a method I use a lot in my classes and it is really effective. Try it out. I know you are going to like the results. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Denise, Keep up the reminding this is what it is about for students. Helping them to see that it is up to them and their desire for success if they are going to advance their career development. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Chrystal, Good plan for expanding your professional expertise. The more things like this you can do the stronger your skill sets are going to be and as a result the more impact you are going to make on your students. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Pattara, Sharing stories and examples from your past is very important. The stories reinforce what you are teaching the students and it gives value to the content. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Kimberlee, Students like examples and stories about their field. These stories help to make real the content you are sharing plus they motivate the students because they can see themselves in their future careers. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Bess, Can you expand on this. I'm not sure I understand how this model works? Thanks. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Deborah, It is edutainment that we are bringing to the classroom. So we get to not only share knowledge but we get to share our excitement about our field. This is a win win situation for everyone. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
