About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Thomas, I am such a learner as well and I really value having the visual support I need when learning something new. Helps me see how the components fit together and gives me an understanding of the value of what I am learning. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Melissa, This is a fun and supportive way to learn content. In addition they are using additional learning modes to acquire the content. Good job. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Thomas, Good point. Building on their past experiences to create future success is a great way to increase motivation as well as build confidence in their knowledge and skill development. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Melissa, When students get to use their live experiences in classes they really light up. Many adult learners are afraid that they will not be successful upon entering college after many years of being out of school. So the more connections between their life experiences and their classes the better. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Thomas, I use this same format with great results. The mixing of the generations really help each group to see the value that the other group can bring to the learning situation. As a result they develop respect for each other and the contributions that are being made by everyone. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Marjorie, Good way to create connecting points for your students as they are moving through the course. This way they can refer back to the required content and pull it out of their memory when needed. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Melissa, Like any task the more tools you have to perform it the better the results will be. This is what teaching is all about so the more we know about cognitive processing and content retention the more effective we will be in our instructional planning. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
