About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Angelia, Good way to get interaction going and the start of rapport with the students. This exchange sets the stage for a positive class phase. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Douglas, What a surprising way to start a class. I am sure this method generated a lot of discussion not mention student reactions. It is good to mix things up at different times and get the attention of students. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Daniel, I teach from 4 until 10 pm so I know where you are coming from. It takes a lot of planning to make sure you keep the students engaged and focused for the duration of the class time. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Scott, I really like this method as well. The feedback from a respected colleague is extremely valuable as you strive to improve your instructional expertise. Gary Dr. Gary Meers

Bernadette, This is part of being a role model. By speaking language in the format of the career area you are setting a standard for the students and guiding them the direction of career success. Keep up the good effort. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Thomas, Good examples of how to expand your instructional expertise. I wish you continued teaching success. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Sharon, I think you will really like the results you get from using graphic organizers. They really help students to see how the segments of the course or a concept fit together while giving them the big picture. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Kenneth, I am a big believer in the use of stories to reinforce content. These stories bring relevance and application to the knowledge being shared. In your field the stories have an even greater impact due to the nature of what you all do and the ways lives are impacted. Keep sharing! Gary Dr. Gary Meers
