About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Daryll, Well said. We instructors are helping students to move toward their career goals. This is a very powerful impact that we can have on the lives of our students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Mark, Right you are. We all like to be around people who are excited about their field and are looking forward to sharing with us. This is what marks a good instructor. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Marilyn, Enthusiasm sells content. If we don't bring it it is for sure the students won't have it. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Courtney, This is why the setting the stage for a positive first class meeting is so important. Then you can build on the first day for learning to occur. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Mikel, So true. Listening is a two way street so by listening to them they will respect us and will listen a a greater extent as you deliver the course content. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Ed, I haven't reviewed learning preferences research recently so I can't give you references within the last year but I would suggest that you look at work that has been done by Dunn and Dunn. They have done extensive research in the area of learning styles and cognitive processing. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Jennifer, This is a great personal touch. The human factor in teaching is tied to student success. By learning about them as individuals and recalling names of their children shows that you listen and value your rapport with your students. I know your students appreciate your effort in this area. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Denise, This way you are hitting on all of the learning needs of your students. Having knowledge about their enrollment lets you customize your approach to the betterment of everyone. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Marilyn, Right you are. They feel accepted into the learning community with this approach and that is an important part of enhanced learning. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
