About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Rachelle, Students love these stories. They help to make the content real for the students plus they encourage them to work harder so they can get out into the field from which they are hearing these stories. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Ethel, Sounds like you have found a comfortable and supportive teaching style. I know your students look forward to working with you and benefiting from your knowledge. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.

Ethel, If we don't bring enthusiasm to the class it is for sure it won't happen. When we are passionate about our content and supportive of our students then we are going to have engaged students and excitement in the classrooms and labs. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kit, Good strategy. Quick success is a great confidence builder. It is amazing to watch the growth of students throughout a course once they feel that they in fact can be successful. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Rickey, The more you can do this the better prepared your students will be. I push these types of experiences hard in my classes because they help my students start to see the value of the content I am sharing. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kate, I do as well for the reasons you cite. Students can really get into mind-mapping activities and this increases their participation level considerably. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Rachelle, Right you are. We are the learning leaders so we need to make sure we fulfill that role each and every time the class meets. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Rickey, Well said. Sometimes we forget the environment in our instructional planning and we can't do this due to the impact it as just as you mention. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Rachelle, Supportive and comfortable are two essential elements of a learning environment. You make a good about how having such a classroom encourages students to become part of the class. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
