About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

James, Yes, they will but as you say only if the content is well organized and well presented. When it is then there is a building process that occurs with the students and their knowledge acquisition. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
James, This is a model I follow for my classes as well. The more diversity in delivery the more engagement we are going to have with our students. They get to use many different learning preferences as a result. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
James, I like this strategy because it spreads the learning venues out beyond just what you are sharing with the students. Also, they get to know their other classmates better through the sharing of their discussion board projects. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Stacey, I agree and think this is how instructors should approach their content area. We can't know it all so a result we become learning leaders in finding out the answers to questions raised. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Carol, Good point and one we need to remember when facing the same situation. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Michael, I think this is a very reasonable number as well for the reasons you state. I have to keep reminding my college of this ever so often. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Theresa, Good point and one that we all need to remember. We do not know everything but we do know how to find answers. So we can use our students as well as ourselves to answer those questions for which we don't know when they come up. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Barbara, Good point and one that I think will work well for such students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
James, Thank you for these good comments about how instructors can use the information shared to expand their instructional delivery to and for their students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Jeffrey, They really do. This is when they start connecting the dots between what they are studying and what they will be able to do upon completion. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
