While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Joshua, You have a diverse professional development plan going for you. Keep it up because not only will you expand your instructional expertise your students are going to benefit from your growth. This is a win win for everyone. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Andrew, There is a saying that goes "Ready, aim, fire." Many people use the saying "Ready, Fire, Aim." and the results from this are often not the best. You make a good point. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Caroline, This is so important because it helps students to see the current value of the content they are studying. Also they see relevancy to the content because it can be applied outside of the classroom through the connections you make with trends and updates. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
James, Yes, they will. We all like to feel that we are welcome and supported when we enter a situation and this holds true for students in classes. Knowing that a smile and a greeting welcomes them each time they come to class goes a long way on the human side of being a teacher. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
James, As an instructor in a hospital setting what are some strategies you have found to be successful in working with your students there? How does your approach differ from the traditional classroom instruction? Thanks for your input on this. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
HAROLD, You have put together a good professional development plan for yourself as it provides additional knowledge and skill development both in your field as well as an educator. I wish you much success in your teaching career. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kristine, I use a lot of case studies and problem solving activities in my classes for the reasons you state. The more relevancy and application students can see in the content the higher the level of engagement there is going to be. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Brian, Sometimes I think instructors do forget they were once students. By seeing our class through the eyes of our students we get a clearer picture of how we can more effectively deliver our content. As for the feedback comment right on. Feedback is helps students to grow while in our classes. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Amber, No problem with candy. Remember adults are just tall children. My students work very hard to earn a piece of candy because it shows that they have answered a question or was able to contribute to the discussion. Amazing how much effort they will put forth to earn a candy kiss. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Brian, Good for you as the learning leader. This sets the tone for the class. As a result all of the students will feel that they can contribute and be listened to without being made fun of or belittled. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
