About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Jason, I hate to hear stories like this but sad to say they are more common that we would like. At least this instructor taught you how not to conduct yourself as an educator. I know your students are benefiting from this negative experience. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Daniel, You make a very good point and one that needs to be considered as one plans activities that will expand the expertise of students in the areas of problem solving and critical thinking. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Brandon, I like knowing this information as well. Having knowledge of this enables you to more accurately target and customize your instructional content as well as delivery. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Richele, You are "connecting the dots" for students between classroom content and real world application. This is critical as they begin their transition to entrance into their chosen field. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Takiya, A good list. Another good motivator is support and encouragement from the instructor. As the learning leader when reinforcement is given it has great value to the students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Nancy, All good ways to reward student effort. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Nancy, It is something we all need to do if we are going to bring our A game to the classroom or lab each time we enter them. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Nancy, You got that right! Having graduates speak to current students shows them the value of the content that is being taught as well as the fact that if they put forth the effort they can have the same success. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Lisa, Students that feel supported, accepted and respected become engaged in the learning process quicker and at a much higher level. You have a system that reflects how you are approaching your students and their learning needs. Keep up the good work. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kirson, This is a good strategy to make a part of your regular routine. I commend you for your advanced planning and setting the stage for successful learning. Reduces a lot of pressure on you because you know you and your lab is ready for students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
