About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Dyana, I agree because to compromise those standards is to compromise your field and the educational effort you are putting forth to help students. We need to set the bar at the level that is required for our field and then help our students meet that level. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Dyana, Well thought out and student centered. You are developing a delivery and interactive style for each class and this enables you to customize your style and provide support as needed. In addition, this approach enables you to be creative and engaged as you teach the same courses over and over. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.

Kurtis, Right you are. If we are not excited about our content or our field it is for sure our students won't be. We need to bring our A game to class each time we step through the door. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Eboni, Is this a career portfolio type of PP or do you ask something else of them? Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Eboni, Can you expand on this point? Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Robert, Good example of how rapport can and is used in many different settings throughout one's career. This is what students need to see and experience so they will know how to work at earning the respect of those that they work with and provide services to. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Shalonda, This is such an important fact to consider when approaching students. We instructors need to establish a connection with our students and earn their respect. It is from respect that rapport is developed and this is how students become an integral of a class. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.

Robert, Thank you for sharing this example with us. Above all things we instructors need to remain flexible in our approach to working with our students. Yes, we as you mention have our policies and requirements but there are always life challenges that come up in the lives of students that require some decision making in relation to that situation. This is the human factor that we need to bring into play as educators and needs to be done on a case by case basis. Over the years I have tried to make the right decisions in cases like the… >>>
