About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Linda, You are going to like the results you get with these methods. Students like variety and change of pace in the learning process. You method is going to provide both to the students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Justin, I agree and as you know students like hearing these stories as they reinforce the value of the content that is being shared. In addition, the stories motivate the students and get them engaged in the learning process. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Linda, This is a good approach because it shows balance in your career experiences which is what happens to us all. None of us have success all the time but when we encounter challenges our working through them give us experience upon which we build so we are better prepared the next time we encounter such a situation. Rick, Glad this worked so well for you. This type of feedback is what makes it fun to be in education. We learn from and support each other as we try to make our communication with our students as effective as it can be. I wish you continued success in your teaching. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Brian, Thank you for sharing this peer to peer model. From your description it sounds like everyone benefits from learning exchanges and support that occur in the classroom. This is a model that I know other instructors can use in their own classes. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Justin, Well said and such an important part of the educational process. Everyone needs to know where they are going and what they will have learned when they get there. By being on the same page then the learning process can start. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Linda, Good strategy to follow because you will gain the benefit of the instructor's experience in a short span of time as a result of your observation. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Justin, This is a model that is highly effective as it provides both relevancy and application to the content being taught. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Erin, Very good point in your last sentence about the use of graphic organizers in the application of information. Instructors need to help students to use them in this area as well because the results are a much higher retention of the content. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Erin, I like your "people first" or in this case "patient first" approach. If they keep the patient in mind and then build their procedures or treatment around that individual they are going to be successful as well as professional. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
