About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Robert, How do you do that with your students? Thanks for your input on this. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Harrison, Important point about how to encourage and support students. They do need a positive word from their instructor so they can see the value of the course and how the instructor is going to help them to move toward their career goals. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Tiffany, Well put in relation to the importance of opening a class on a positive note. With a such an approach the students will start to get settled in and focused on the learning that is going to occur. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kristopher, Great to hear the value you are getting from our courses. I wish you much success as you develop your skills as an educator. Always keep the human factor in your instructional approach and you will do well. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Tony, It is important to get a "read" of your students and your opening of class this way does that. This sets the stage for you to customize your instructional to reflect their mood for that day and as a result you keep the class moving forward. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Harrison, Thank you for sharing your style with us. I know your students appreciate your investment in their future and your caring support to encourage their success. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Claire, Good book to work from as an instructor. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Cory, Good strategy. This is what gets students engaged in the learning process. They need to see the ROI for themselves and their lives. The more that is done the more they will become invested in the learning process. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Crystal, Everyone can get tired and worn down and it is easy to follow a routine without any excitement or enthusiasm for what is being taught. You make a good point as to why we cannot let this happen to us or our students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Cory, Thank you for this insight into how you are able to bring a form of "repetition" to your students by reviewing with them how the courses they have taken has helped them make progress toward their career goals. You are showing the students how they are about to reach the completion of their formal educational journey and begin the start of a new learning experience called a career. This is such an important concept for them to understand. Keep up the good work. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
