Estella, How do you bring motivation opportunities into your classroom? Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Suzarie, Being a role model for overcoming difficult odds is a powerful message to students. Often students think their instructor have not had any life challenges so sharing this personal information about how you overcame situations and are now able to enjoy success in your life is very motivating. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Tricia, A simple three step process that will yield good results. Many instructors don't seem to be able to define and then refine how these three steps work together. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Suzarie, Like your attitude about classes that are this way. Some classes are worse than others but we need to continue to bring our passion and zeal for what we are doing to class each and every time we step into it. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Suzarie, Like your definition of the human factor. It is so critical that we display this part of our instructional modeling because it does make the difference for a lot of students between staying in school and dropping our. Many need that connection with the instructor. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kristopher, It is amazing how effective movement can be in setting the tone for a class and giving students the feeling of engagement. Good point. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Jan, Can't say enough about modeling. It is a powerful learning tool that we instructors use in everything we do. Our students are always watching us so we need to always reflect professional behavior and help shape they way they see themselves fitting into their field. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.

Scott, I agree with you about how to work with students. I start my classes with the following statement. "Courtesy is owed" I will be courteous to you as a result of enrolling in this class. "Respect is earned" I will strive to earn your respect while you are earning mine. If successful we will work on the next step which is "Rapport is developed". We will work on developing rapport with each other throughout the course. At any time you do not fulfill one of these three we will have a discussion so we can get back on track.… >>>

Kristopher, Yes it does. Knowing this helps with instructional planning and delivery. You know how to target your students more effectively as a result of this knowledge. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Freda, This is an important outcome of a well prepared and delivered lecture. This is why effort needs to be made to include as many different examples and real world experiences in the lectures as is possible. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
