Activity

Sharyl, Your analysis is right on in terms of how diverse learning groups operate. This diversity really challenges us as we do our instructional planning and so as we do our planning we need to seek common areas if they exist from which we can help the students operate. It is an ongoing effort for sure. We need to continue to share our efforts with other educators so collectively we can identify the best practices to use in settings like this. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Lisa, Good point about how to develop both the instructional as well as the human part of students. They need to be both when they are ready to seek employment. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Karen, You have a good start on your professional development as an educator. Keep doing what you are currently doing. As you get comfortable with the teaching process you can start to add activities, case studies, Q&A sessions and other best teaching practices that will help enhance the learning of your students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Marilyn, Right you are and your add on is a good one as well. Words may say one thing but if the body does not communicate that as well then the opportunity for a positive first impression will be lost. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Joyce, This is what student centered teaching should be able. Well said. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Joyce, Students really like hearing stories from the field. The stories reinforce the content that is being taught. This is good advice you are offering to instructors as they do their instructional planning. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Marilyn, I agree and that is why it is so important to model the highest level of behavior and conduct that is expected in the field. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Carol, Yes it is. Guest speakers like this are powerful motivators for students. They help them to see the value of what is being taught and how their careers can develop. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Holly, This is a necessary balance for students to understand. Education is a building process that continues throughout life and our students need to realize this early in their lives. This way they will become life long learners and be on the lookout for ways to expand their knowledge and expertise. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Carol, I agree because it certainly plays an important part in the learning process. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
