About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Andrew, Well put. The more you know the more you are able to target your instructional delivery efforts. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Regina, I commend you for your outreach to get information on and about your students. The learning preference assessment is such a value added opportunity around which you can plan your instructional delivery. Thank you for the suggestion about burning a CD containing their vocabulary works. This not only helps them but also takes their learning outside of the classroom and puts it along side them in other setting such as their car. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Freda, This is a very good way to get your students working together and realizing the importance of relationships with other workers. They need to be able to become a part of a team so they can see how to work together once they are out in the workplace. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Aquila, I think this blending model is a very good way to help new students see how they fit into the class while the more experienced students help them get settled in. This way everyone sees the role they have in the class. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Cathy, Right you and something we need to remember each time we start a new class. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Angela, This such an important part of the instructional planning process. We need to make sure we remove as many distractions as we can. Having a positive learning environment sets the stage for positive learning to occur. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Jorge, Great to hear about the growth you are experiencing through the feedback your students are providing and your positive attitude of wanting to improve your instructional delivery. I wish you much success in your teaching. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kathy, I do the same in my classes because I want them to have the key points from the syllabus in front of them in a brief and concise form. I print this information on colored paper so the handout stands out in their notebooks and I can refer to the color of the paper when I want them to review a certain section. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Aquila, You are offering instruction and support to your students in so many different ways and I commend you for your efforts. Each point that you have made is right on target because the students need to develop discipline in their lives so they will be able to provide the patient care required in a professional and timely manner. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kathy, As you gain more experience with them you find that you get even more good results. Keep up the effort it is really worth it. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
