About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Discussion Comment
Jeanne, I use them in my course and they are extremely valuable due the the tine they occur. I don't see a lot of value from end of course evaluations as the students are in a hurry to fill out the form, are mad because they are being rushed to complete a project or are worn out. Any of these three reasons can result in less than accurate input for course improvement. Mid-course evaluations reflect what is going on in the course at the moment and thus they are more helpful. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Barbara, There is much value in this due to the reflection and redirection that can result from looking on the outside in in relation to how we are presenting our content. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Barbara, Students really like hearing real life scenarios and examples. They make the course content more valuable to them. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Barbara, It really does because you can target your instructional delivery more accurately by having this information. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Leslie, Great way to engage students. You have a comfortable supportive instructional style that makes the students feel a part of the class. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Maggie, This so important the medical field. Your nurses need to have the ability to analyze a situation and bring up in their minds how to resolve that situation. The more options they have learned about and practiced the more choices they have available to help the patient. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Rosemary, It is one more tool for the students to call upon as they are moving through a course. Graphic organizers can help to support those students that are not that good at note taking. They help such student relax a bit because they see that they are getting the content organized in a way that will enable them to go back and study it when needed. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Rosemary, Relevance is so important for students to understand in relation to starting a new course. They need to see and hear how the course will help them to move toward their career goals. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
