About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Travis, Good way to conduct your classes. Passion for your field and enthusiasm for teaching your content are two great ways to "sell" the value of your course to students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Christinia, Your last sentence puts it all together. You are right on with your comments. Positive builds on positive and enthusiasm is catching. This sets the stage for learning success. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Christinia, I like this time because I learn so much about my students. I am always amazed at what life experiences my students have had. This information helps me to get to know them as well know how to support them during the course. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kenneth, Keep pushing because as you say by falling back they repeat the same procedures or actions over and over again. Looking for alternatives help the students develop skill at finding solutions to situations that require creative thinking. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kenneth, The key is for them to consider where they have been with the day's learning effort and reflect on how it impacts both head and heart. Emotional investment is a big part of how we see the world around us. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.

Kenneth, I like the way you have developed your approach to inquiry learning. This method enables your students to see concepts and ideas from different perspectives. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Raghda, Right you are and this is what makes them valuable to use. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Dale, This teaching model increases the cognitive retention rate of your students because they are "working" for their knowledge. They have to think which is something that can be usual in a college classroom since a lot of students want to be spoon fed the content. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Grace, Great attitude for an instructor to have. You are impacting lives and shaping futures so the more effort you put into supporting your students the more help you will be providing them. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
