About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Natalie, Respect and rapport are two very important parts of teaching/learning success. The first day with the introductions and an ice breaker starts the process. From then on it is a building effort. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Jarred, Great to hear the value that came from this section. I wish you continued teaching success and I know your revised syllabus will help your students to prepare themselves for your class and be informed about what the expectations are when they enter it. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Jaime, You get to experience a well prepared syllabus from both sides. As a student you know what you want to see so as an instructor you know how to prepare a syllabus that will be informative and supportive to the students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Timberly, A well prepared syllabus gives the outline of the course and the requirements for success in the course. As a result the students know from day one what the expectations are and how they can be successful in the course. This reduces their frustrations and answers many of their questions. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kulsoom, Right you are about a well prepared syllabus. It is the road map that the students will follow as they progress through the course. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
John, This is a great service you are providing. You helping your students to gain real world experience while developing their professional skills as service providers. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Jason, This is such a great way to help the students to see the value of what they are being taught. The more the class setting reflects the world in which they will work the easier their transition is going to be upon graduation. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Lori, A simple thing like lighting can make all the difference in the world to the students. Their attitudes change when they are perky and engaged. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Krystal, They need help in seeing the value of what is being taught. The more connections of this type you can make the more value students will see in the content. They need help in seeing the future. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
MALCOLM, I agree about the value of a good text. I use supplemental materials as well because no matter how current the text is it seems to still be about two years behind the field. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
