About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Jeffrey, Thank you for these good comments about instructor enthusiasm. They are reflective of the value that students associate with the content when their instructor is excited about getting to teach them. This is a win win for everyone. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kristina, You points about enthusiasm are right on the mark. It is for sure if we do not have passion for our content and enthusiasm about teaching it the students will not be engaged. We have to bring our A game to class each and every time it meets. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Elly, Right you are. The first impression is the foundation upon which the rest of the course will rest. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Daniel, You have a very interesting group of students in your classes. You are so right about the need to be at the top of your game with this group. You have to work at earning their respect from the second you walk into the class. This is some very high stakes teaching. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Joseph, You have a good flow to your delivery and a change of pace programed in to help keep your students engaged. This is what learners like because it helps to keep them engaged. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Becky, Right you are about introductions helping to get a course started off well. I enjoy the first class session because of the introductions as well as the ice breakers. We have a good time, share some laughs and start the development of rapport building and this is a great way to start a new class. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Becky, Like your attitude and enthusiasm for expanding your knowledge and skills in instructional delivery. Your efforts are going to be well worth it as you see the results of your teaching in the outcomes of your students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Elly, What are some strategies you use to get input from each student during these Q&A sessions? Thanks for your input on this. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Joseph, Your last sentence says it all when it comes to instructional planning. No planning-no success with learning. We need to be prepared and organized as we approach our classrooms and labs each and every time. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kathleen, You have a very professional and comprehensive approach to your modeling efforts. By doing so you are showing your students what the standards and expectations are for their field. As a result their transition from being a student to the field should be much easier and they will be on a success track much quicker. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
