About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Darcey, Each part of this process establishes a standard for your students to observe and then follow. You are displaying professionalism in numerous ways that will guide your students as they develop their own professional identity. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kanidrus, The key is for the instructor to help make the student feel like he or she is a welcomed part of the total learning interaction that occurs in the classroom. This is what makes for engaged students. Thank you for making this good point. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Charles, Your thinking and planning is right on target. This is how you get your students engaged and excited about what is being taught. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Charles, Yes, it does and it is important that students see the path and how it takes them toward their career goals as well as their knowledge and skill development. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kanidrus, Students like variety and change of pace in their classes. By doing so you will be delivering content in their learning preference areas at different times in the course. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Benny, I like the way you do this because you are letting your students apply their newly acquired skills in different settings. They learn the foundational elements but use them with different recipes and this reinforces their skill sets. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Benny, Nice approach to connecting each class session to the next one that is coming. The students can see the progress they are making in the course this way and build their skills and knowledge from there. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kanidrus, Building on a positive first impression is so important to the rest of the class sessions. The students should feel comfortable and excited about the upcoming class and the first class session sets the tone for that. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Benny, This is so important because as you know the more students know about the real world they are going to be working in the easier their transition to it is going to be. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Benny, You have a very good professional development plan laid out for yourself. As a result of this plan you are going to continue to expand your knowledge and expertise as a master educator. I wish you much continued success. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
