About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Melvin, Yes, it does. Knowing their reasons and career goals helps you to customize you instructional delivery to better meet their needs. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
James, Good advice to share with students. These are valuable life lessons that are being taught. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Paulette, Good plan for bringing diversity into your instructional delivery. This is how you keep students engaged and focused on the content that is being delivered. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Phuong, Right you are about letting the students know they will be called upon and are expected to be prepared to contribute. If they don't feel this way then they will sit back and let someone else lead the discussion and their contributions will be lost. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Debi, With your efforts you are helping your students to become a part of the class. As they get settled into the course they are seeing how you are going to conduct the class and how they can be successful in it. This builds their engagement level and helps them to be excited about the course to come. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Rick, What is the lecture about and how do you engage your students in the class? Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Paulette, Right you are and this is why it is so important to be well prepared the first class meeting. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Debi, Like the way you explain how a syllabus can be used to inform and guide students. This creates value to the students in relation to syllabus because it gives them an overview of the course as well as a road map to follow during the course. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Rick, What are some ways you treat your students as if they were on the job? Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Irum, Right you are. As the learning leader for these students you set the standards and then model the behaviors that are needed for career success. Keep up this good effort. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
