About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

LaShonda, Good way to customize your instructional delivery so that you are targeting the learning preferences of your students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
DAVID E, No you are not wrong you should feel good that your students realize that you are working hard to provide them with quality instruction. This is a compliment to you and your professionalism. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
DAVID E, I am a big fan of using real work situations to help students understand what they will be facing once they are out working. I use a lot of case studies and stories from my own work experience. As we both know students really perk up when they can see the relevancy and application of what is being discussed. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
DAVID E, Wow, what a lead you have with that many subjects in that short of time. You are right about needing to adapt and adjust your teaching style throughout this time period. This is how you will be more effective and keep your students engaged. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
DAVID E, Passion for one's field and enthusiasm about teaching is a winning combination for teaching success. I wish you continued success as you impact the lives of your students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.

Melannie, You are reflecting the standards of your field and striving to get your students to internalize information at a level that will enable them to be successful in the workplace. Keep up this effort because your students will be well prepared when they leave your program and as a result enjoy career success. The more examples you can share with them from the field the more value they will associate with the content being delivered. This is when the ROI for the course expands for not only them but you as well since you will be to observe how… >>>

Logan, You make a very good point about your dress in relation to being outside of the classroom but still in a professional setting. Knowing that you are a professional and dressing such is important for your students to observe even if it is on Friday and there are not classes. You are sending a message and setting a standard for your students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Melannie, You are helping to shape their future career success via their development in the behavior and social conduct arena. I think this is a very valuable service you are offering. If the students don't have the ability to communicate clearly and present themselves as professionals they are not going to be successful in their career areas. The more you can help them in this area the better. Also, you are not being mean you are just showing them what the expectations are going to be when they are out working so keep up the effort. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Melannie, I congratulate you for having such a comprehensive professional development plan. I wish you much success as you work toward your doctorate and expand your instructional expertise. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Melannie, You are setting the stage for career success for your students through your standards and modeling. They can see that you are successful and by modeling the appropriate dress, behavior, language and conduct you as showing them that they can achieve this as well if they are willing to put forth the effort. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
