About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Kathy, This has been my experience as well. This variety helps to keep me excited about teaching the different courses. In two weeks I start 6 new courses so I need variety in my delivery so I can be engaging in each of them. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Jessica, Key word in your comment is "ownership". This is so important for students to acquire since it is their future they are preparing for. In this age of entitlement students sometimes fail to see that if it is to be it is up to them. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Jason, All good elements of instructional planning. By using these different strategies you are providing content and examples that increase the value of the course to the students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
RAJINI, Good point and well said. Students need to realize the necessity for developing self discipline if they are going to be successful in their field. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Carol, I like to use case studies for this in my courses. These situations help students to learn how to think critically and problem solve. This really helps in building their confidence and skills in the field. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Minnie, So true and so important to the engagement process for students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Terrance, Students like change of pace and variety in their instructional delivery. When instructors offer both then the students will be more engaged and focused on acquiring the content. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Donna, Like your style of instruction. This is what learning should be about. The more engagement the more value the students will associate with the course. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Minnie, How do you share this information with your students/ Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Terrance, This is so important. Why dig out of a negative hole the entire course? With planning the first class session can set the tone for the course and then build from there. Makes teaching a lot easier for sure. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
