These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Cynthia, There is a saying that illustrates your point about common sense. "It's not how smart you are but how you are smart." I will take a person that has common sense and is able to do reflective thinking anytime because that person can get the job done. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Cynthia, Thank you for these good points about how critical thinking is used in the medical field. Reflective and critical thinking is essential as possibilities are explored in relation to a patient's condition. The more skill that is developed the more valuable the student will be in his or her field. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Robert, So true because life no matter the setting involves a lot of reflective thinking as we progress through our careers and personal situations. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Susana, What some strategies that have worked for you in the correlation process? Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Beth, Thank you for the reinforcement of how graphic organizers can be of value in the learning process. I use them a lot in my classes as they help my students to sequence the content as well as put it all together at the end. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Susana, So true. What are some of the methods you use to offer instruction in the four areas? Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
E, This gives you a baseline on your students as well as an idea of the different learning preferences that are represented among the student body. This is very helpful as you plan your instructional delivery. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
E, This is exciting to hear in terms of the different strategies you are going to use with your students. These types of variety in learning are engaging for the students and they illustrate to them how they can learn the material in different ways while expanding their skill sets. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Patricia, Good point and one I agree with strongly. Respect and rapport are two essential elements needed for student and teaching success. So the more we can establish rapport with our students while earning their respect the greater their engagement will be. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Laurie, This is a challenging situation for many of our students. We educators work hard at trying to find financial support for our students and look for ways to be of help. In may cases we can be of help and sadly in others we are unable to find the needed resources. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
