About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Margaret, Good balance in how you approach the delivery of content in your classes. You are sharing content in a way that enables students to be successful if they are willing to put forth the required effort. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
David, Your efforts to be the learning leader you want to be for your students is what sets you up as an educational professional. All your efforts lend themselves to targeted instruction and maximum student growth. This is what instruction should be about. I wish you continued success as you prepare the next generation of professionals in your field. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
David, Your dedication to your field and your students is to be commended. With a fast changing area like HLS your efforts through reading and talking with others in the field helps you to be able to share the latest and greatest with your students. These efforts hopefully are appreciated by your students as they are being prepared to enter a career area that will be challenging them to remain current as well. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Judith, Change of pace and variety of delivery methods are two ways to keep students engaged. The activities you list help are ways to do both for your students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Hayli, Learning is always a two way street and you are demonstrating that with your students. They respect you because you are willing to listen and learn from them so they in turn do the same when you present your content. This is a win win situation for all of you. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
David, This is such a great way to show graphically how the parts of the course come together to complete the total. Your explanation of how success can be achieved establishes the requirements so the students can see how they can be successful if they are willing to put forth the required effort. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Chenal, Well put about the need for establishing a positive and supportive environment from day one. This is how students become engaged in the learning process and focus on the content that is to come. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Maria, You make a very good point about your role as the learning leader. Thank you for your mention of how to work with cohort groups. They can be a challenge but your approach helps to establish your position in the learning process and how the group can benefit from your leadership. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Jeanie, You are sending so many signals to your students with your different activities and methods that show them that you are the learning leader. You are instilling in them a sense of confidence that will help them to see the value of the course and how it applies to their career development. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Judith, This is a good way to help get students settled into the course and feeling comfortable with you as their instructor. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
