About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Jeffrey, Good plan and one that I know will be effective. Students like variety and change of pace and you are offering both with your methods. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Shawn, Sounds like a good plan to engage all of your students in their respective learning preference areas. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.

Dave, Within the application phase of our class sessions you can address all of the styles via the activities you select. Michael, Can you expand on what this attribute is and how you are using it to engage your students? Thanks for your input on this. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Heather, It seems that college students have selected memory loss when it comes to due dates and quiz times. The more you remind them the better and this helps to reduce their anxiety about not knowing because you have reminded them several times prior to the due date. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Delores, Belief and trust form the foundation for respect which leads to rapport. A positive first impression helps the process to move forward to the benefit of the students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Jeffrey, You make a number of good points but one that really stands out to me is that you are showing them how a successful graduate should present him or herself. This creates a role model for them to work toward throughout the course. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Mary, Information like this is so valuable to students. Knowing that they have a caring professional that is going to help them be successful if they will put forth the needed effort is critical. You are doing such with your approach so you have set the stage for them as the course unfolds. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Michael, This is a great resource for you to have. This way you can as you say concentrate on your content and delivery planning. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Suzelle, Right you are. I can't imagine teaching a course without the direction of the syllabus. The students would have no idea what to do or what is going to be required. Chaos is the right word for sure. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
