About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Levon, Yes, it does. This makes a big difference in how a course gets started. It needs to be a supportive and comfortable first class meeting and then build from there. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Lavetta, Like the way you set the stage for success in your class opening. Knowing that you care about them and their success as well as the fact that they can express their opinions and ask questions freely goes a long way in helping them get settled into the course. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Betty, This is true. As a result it is important to set the stage for getting students engaged and ready for the upcoming class sessions. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Ronald, Right you are. This informal types of interaction help to create a connection that leads to a stronger learning community in the class. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kesha, I am a big fan of this type of feedback as well as ongoing feedback from students. The more we know the better we can target our instructional improvement. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kesha, It is an ongoing effort for sure. We need to strive to expand our instructional expertise so we can be more effective with our delivery and impact on students. The results will be more satisfied and better prepared students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Tracey, This is where the syllabus is as important to you as it is to your students. Both of you can benefit from a well developed syllabus and the result will be a higher level of student engagement and satisfaction. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Levon, Yes it is. It is unfair to students if there is not enough equipment and supplies for each student to be able to preform in a class or lab. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Betty, What are some ways you have had success in doing this? Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Levon, Your comments are right on target in relation to the impact being a model can have on students. It is critical that we give them a model that will lead the way toward their own professional development and career success. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
