About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Holli, Students to see that their previous experiences can actually help them be successful in the class. Building on these experiences shows them that they have a foundation upon which they can build their knowledge and skill base. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kevin, This is such a key point. There has to be value associated with what is being asked. If students do not see value then their motivation levels will drop and it won't be long before they are gone from the school. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kevin, Like the way you approach learning and instructional delivery. Our world needs more critical and reflective thinkers so the more you can help your students to become such the better. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kevin, Many students as you know have a built in fear of math. Novel approaches like those you list are great ways to show students that they can learn math while still having fun in the process. Good ideas. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kevin, You are helping your students to see how they are evolving as professionals with this approach. They are getting the latest information from you as a fellow professional and this goes a long way in their development as prepare to enter their career area. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Joanna, Passion for one's field should be brought to class each time it meets. Combine that passion with enthusiasm for teaching along with applications of the content and the formula for learning success is set. This is what makes teaching fun for both us instructors and our students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Brandon, Good ways to reinforce what you are teaching. The more real life applications they can make and the more role models the hear from the better engaged the students are going to be. Experiences like that help them to see themselves out in the workplace providing quality patient care. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
ROBIN, I am a big fan of games myself. I use them a lot during review sessions. We play Family Feud and Jeopardy. We have a lot of fun and the students are amazed at how much they actually know that they didn't think they know. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kevin, This is what a learning leader should be about. We need to make sure we model our expectations. This way our students can see how they can develop into sought after professionals. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
