Activity

Sharon, You are right about the need for a well prepared syllabus. The use of a signature sheet is a a good way to hold the students accountable for having read the contents of the syllabus. The signature sheet emphasizes the importance you attach to the syllabus and sends a message that they should consider it as being important as well. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Jennifer, Good point. When students are confused they become anxious and frustrated which leads to all kinds of problems in the classroom. A well prepared clear and concise syllabus keeps everyone on the same page and focused in terms of the goals of the course. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Maria, Clear goals are essential if students are going to stay focused for the entire course. Everyone needs to be on the same page and going in the same direction if the same destination is going to be achieved. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.

Annette, Your field is based to a major extent on problem solving. A patient has a health issue and the medical community needs to come up with a diagnosis and the treatment. So with your approach you are offering steps for them to be able to develop such problem solving skills. Thank you for sharing this approach with us. I know it will be of benefit to many other instructors. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
