Karen, Thank you for this very good discussion on setting boundaries with students. You are right by modeling the right boundaries you are showing them how they need to set and maintain boundaries in their field. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
John, Great quote. It is so true because we do need to think through the situation, options and possible solutions before we jump into the deep end of the pool. Reflective thinking is one of the most effective ways of getting the problem internalized in relation to next steps. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Anna Marie, Yes it does because you are able to tailor your instruction to appeal to the different learning preferences. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Anna Marie, Good way to keep the course current and relevant for the current enrollees. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Maggie, This is a great way to motivate your students. I really like how this form of motivation spills over to include their children. Reinforcement from family has a lot to do with keeping students in school as we know. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.

The reason I mention this is your listing of the gourmet meal for your family. My ideal gourmet meal is a… >>>

Julia, So true in terms of settling into a routine of teaching the same content over and over without thinking as much about the current crop of students that are enrolled. We need to keep ourselves and our content fresh and relevant. When we do we will keep our passion for teaching high as well. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
MALCOLM, The more you can make your content come alive the better. You are doing that with the example you have shared with us. Once students realize that they in fact can use the content of a course like yours in their personal lives you have increased the ROI for them significantly. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
