About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Gerald, How do you follow up with your students in terms of their understanding of the syllabus after they have completed their reading? Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Darrren, Yes, it does. It forms the foundation upon which respect is earned and rapport developed. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Jenaro, Like the way you have laid out the reasons for making a good first impression. Each part of the impression needs to be considered because as you mention at the end of your comments your reputation does proceed you. Students talk and instructors need to strive to keep the students talking to each other about the standards you set for the course. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Darrren, This is such a good thing for you to do as you are showing your students the environment in which they will be working. This will ease their transition from school to the real world. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Gerald, We need to see the learning environment through the eyes of our students. If we do then we can make any necessary adjustments to make the environment supportive for their learning. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Amy, All good activities to keep the students involved in the learning process. The change of pace and variety helps to keep them engaged and focused on the content while the activities help them to burn the information into their long term memory. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Gerald, What are some way you do this in your courses? Thanks for your input on this. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Darrren, Good definition to operate with. This way you will be a model for your students as they develop their own personal brand. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Rody, Great way to get the students involved and thinking which is going to be a major part of their lives once their are in their careers. You are helping them to visualize the transition they are going to make from being students to professionals. Keep up the good work. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Melissa, Good way to keep their future in the present. You are helping them to see themselves as professionals in the field. It is easy for them to forget why they are in the program when they start to get tired and worn down part way through the course. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
