About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Crystal, Like your professional development plan and your positive attitude for becoming and even better instructor. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Raymond, This is how our expand your expertise as an educator. This is what professional development should be about. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Debra, Glad the information contained in the module is being helpful to you. As you saying knowing this information you then can take a student centered approach in the selection and delivery of your content. Keep up the good work and I wish you continued teaching success. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Daniel, I like your vision for how you are going to approach the classroom and deliver your content. This is how instructional planning should be covered. You are looking at both the students that you have enrolled as well as the content you are going to deliver which gives you a picture of how you are going to share your content. I am sure this results in a high level of effective learning. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Erin, Do you put your expectations into your syllabus or do you give a separate Expectations handout? Do you also cover polices and assignments in the syllabus? Do the students have to sign a sheet indicating they have read and understand the contents of your expectations? What are the most common questions asked by your students about the expectations you have set for the course? Are your expectations set based upon standards from the field or are they your expectations as you have determined them for the course? Thank you for your input. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Erin, What are the elements you look for in defining a supportive learning environment? How do you make adjustments in the environment to encourage students to settle in and become part of the course? Thank you for your input into our discussion on this topic. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Jenaro, You are truly a learning leader. I appreciate all the effort you make in getting ready for your class. I like your reference to being an actor that needs to review lines prior to performing. Instructors cannot or should not just rush into the class and try to teach without proper preparation. The students really pick up on this and that destroys any confidence they have in that instructor. Keep up the good work as you continue to impact the lives of your students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Erin, I still observe colleagues when given the opportunity and I have been teaching for many years. There is always something to be learned by setting through and observing these classes. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
John, What a great opportunity for you. These are resources that all instructors should take advantage of when offered. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Francis, You have a very good understanding of how to change the pace of the class and offer variety in your delivery. This is how you will keep the focus of your students. I teach from 4 until 10 pm so I can relate to the challenges of longer classes and keeping students engaged. I am worn out at the end of class because these classes require a lot of planning and activity if they are going to be successful. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
