About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Saroj, They help students to see the total or parts of the total however you present it. This way each student can see the elements that are being presented and the content they need to learn. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kathy, Sounds like a most rewarding time for your students. Reading the transcripts and hearing you explain how it all works increases the motivation of the students. They start to see themselves in court taking transcripts and this is a vision we want to expand as the students move through their courses. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Robert, By helping them see the sequence and segments of the course you are showing them how they will progress in both their knowledge and skill development. This is very important in keeping them engaged for the duration of their program. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Saroj, This is an important part of being a learning leader. What are some of the strategies you use to keep your students on topic? Thanks for your input on this. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Joe, Way to increase the value of the course for the students. Also, by doing so you are easy the transition process for the students as they will learn in the classroom/lab what their workplace will be like. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Nicole, When you are in the lab setting your students are using a more integrated approach anyway since they are using tactile, visual and auditory to complete their tasks. So by offering variety in your lecture you are helping them to learn the content while getting them ready to do sensory integration. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
LeAnn, Showing them what their future may be like in terms of salary potential and employment opportunities really gets them ramped up about what they are learning. They start to get a vision of where they can take their careers. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kathy, I am sure your students really enjoy hearing these stories and asking you questions about how their field operates. Being in a court setting there is no shortage of stories I am sure. Keep up the sharing! Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kathy, Real life experiences helps students to see why certain content is being taught and how it applies to their career growth. This is how you increase the value of the course to the students as well as increasing their excitement about preparing to go into the field. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Stephanie, Good way to make a connection between a topic that may appear not to be to interesting by giving it application. So this way the students can see both the why as well as the value of learning about coding in relation to benefits from being able to do it. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
