About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Maurice, Like all three of these words because they do reflect what a professional educator should be about as he or she approaches the classroom and interacts with students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Elanor, So important for us all to keep our focus forward. This way we can keep our goals in sight and strive to meet them. Letting today's problems overcome us stops the direction we want to go and the vision we have for ourselves and our career. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Brady, These are all great methods to use. Seeing professionals in the field really gets students excited because they want to be like those people and they quickly realize that to get there they are going to have to work hard and be successful. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Elanor, Thank you for these motivating remarks about the role we educators play in the lives of our students. I commend you and your family for the generations of involvement and life impacting work you all have done. This is the type of impact that keeps us coming back to the classroom year after year. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Donna, I agree. We need to work at earning the respect of our students while they earn our respect. Once that is started it is easy to move to rapport and this sets the stage for an active learning environment. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Brady, These are all great strategies for getting students engaged and learning the content. They are also fun for the students to participate in and that increases their desire to be active learners. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Maurice, There are so many different ways to offer repetition drills that are fun for the students and are valuable in helping them to retain the needed content. The value of repetition is that after a while the students internalize the information to the point it becomes a part of their working memory and they are able to recall the information with ease. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Lydia, This is a very good point. Due to a variety of life challenges the students come to school to not only expand their career options but also to find themselves in a number of ways internally. Finding some balance in their lives and spending some time reflecting where they are in terms of life steps is so beneficial. As the instructor you are there as their learning leader to help them as they move forward. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Brady, This is a very important part of the instructional process. The more you know about your students the more you can customize your approach and as a result you will have a higher retention rate of both students and content. A win win for everyone. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Maurice, By planning such a discussion in a way that gets every student contributing you will have achieved your goal of total student engagement. These are fun and very informative sessions that benefit each and every student. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
